Reporter Bill Smith from the Collier County Fairgrounds:
Supporters were pleased with their Donald Trump's performance and left looking forward to voting.
"It was wonderful, absolutely, we waited three hours and it was worth it all the way," said Georgia Bupson of Bonita Springs. "It was exciting because it was the way I wanted him to be."
Others found little new in Trump's address.
"It's what I heard previously, nothing has really changed other than what he said in his Gettysburg Address," said John Lotarski of Naples.
A Detroit native, Lotarski was one of those who had to listen from outside after Secret Service closed the gate.
"I wish I could have gotten pictures," he said. "Just to send some photos. Where I'm from is very liberal area, I'm the black sheep of my family."
As Trump's helicopter left it dipped to the crowd, delighting Phillip Secada, 51, of Hialeah, Fla., among others.
"It's really wonderful, the guy has really connected with the people," Secada said. "Hopefully everything works out OK. We have a great country here."
Some not old enough to vote fell in with their elders.
"I thought it was great," said a 15-year-old named John. "It's my future and I think he's best for me and young people."
