The Naples Winter Wine Festival was winning over newbies.
Lee Ann Murino, of Illinois, joined her cousin Thomas McDonald, of New York, at the wine festival. Though she's new to the experience, this was McDonald's fourth visit.
While supporting the foundation's mission, Murino, a wine enthusiast, had the chance to branch out and enjoy new flavors.
"I'm trying a lot of wines I haven't tried," Murino said.
Attendee Terry Noble, a part-time Naples resident from Minnesota, said he and his wife participated in this year's events for the first time to support area children.
They attended a Casablanca vintner dinner with people from all over the country who shared the same altruistic goals, Noble said.
The Naples Winter Wine Festival "epitomizes philanthropy," he said.
"It's a great chance to give funds to people who need it," Noble said. "I think if you're lucky enough to make it, you gotta be willing to share it."
