Voting is slow at the Estero rec center, which has been an early voting location this past week. Several voters arrived only to be turned away for being at the wrong precinct.
Janice Johnson of Estero was one of the first to vote on Election Day. She cast ballots for Marco Rubio in the U.S. Senate race and Dan Bongino in the congressional race.
"I knew him from Fox News," she said of Bongino, a conservative personality on national radio and television shows. "I like what I've seen on television. I don't know a whole lot more."
Carolyn Orr of Estero voted for businessman Carlos Beruff in the Senate race, but really she was voting against Rubio, she said.
"I didn't vote for Rubio because he was never around to vote (in the Senate) when he needed to vote," she said.
When asked if she would vote for Rubio in the fall over a Democratic opponent, Orr wavered.
"Maybe I wouldn't vote," she said.
